“It’s a Shame” – Régis Le Bris Delivers BAD News to Sunderland Fans as Fresh Injury Crisis Emerges

Sunderland Suffer Fresh Injury Blow as Régis Le Bris Confirms Habib Diarra Setback Ahead of Dinamo Zagreb and Chelsea Fixtures

Sunderland have suffered another worrying setback following their disappointing 3-1 defeat to Coventry City on Saturday, with manager Régis Le Bris confirming that Habib Diarra has picked up a fresh muscle injury.

The Black Cats travelled to the Coventry Building Society Arena hoping to secure a positive result, but their afternoon ended in frustration as they suffered another damaging Premier League defeat.

The result leaves Sunderland rooted to the bottom of the Premier League table, increasing the pressure on Le Bris as his team continue to struggle for consistency.

However, the defeat was not the only concern for the Sunderland manager, who also provided an update on Diarra after the midfielder surprisingly missed the matchday squad.

Diarra had only recently returned from a hamstring injury and was substituted at half-time during Sunderland’s Carabao Cup victory over Brentford as the club attempted to carefully manage his workload.

Unfortunately, the Senegalese midfielder has now suffered another muscular problem during training, raising fresh concerns about his availability for the club’s upcoming fixtures.

Régis Le Bris Confirms Fresh Habib Diarra Injury

Speaking after Sunderland’s defeat to Coventry, Le Bris confirmed that Diarra had sustained a new muscle injury during a training session.

The French manager admitted that the club were still assessing the situation and could not yet determine how serious the problem was.

Le Bris expressed his disappointment at the development, particularly given the midfielder’s recent return from injury and the importance of having him available during a difficult period of the campaign.

The setback could see Diarra miss Sunderland’s upcoming Europa League encounter against Dinamo Zagreb and their Premier League meeting with Chelsea before the international break.

His potential absence represents another headache for Le Bris, who will be hoping to have as many key players available as possible as Sunderland attempt to turn their disappointing form around.

Nordi Mukiele Also Ruled Out Against Dinamo Zagreb

Meanwhile, Sunderland have received another injury update involving defender Nordi Mukiele, who was also unavailable for Saturday’s defeat against Coventry.

Le Bris explained that the French defender is currently following concussion protocols after suffering the issue during Sunderland’s goalless draw against Leeds United.

As a result, Mukiele will not be available for Thursday’s Europa League fixture against Dinamo Zagreb.

However, the Sunderland manager offered a more encouraging update regarding his potential return, suggesting that the defender should be available for next weekend’s Premier League clash against Chelsea, subject to completing the necessary concussion protocols.

His expected return would provide Sunderland with a welcome defensive boost, particularly with several important fixtures approaching.

Omar Alderete Also Set to Miss Chelsea Clash

Sunderland will also be without Omar Alderete when they welcome Chelsea next weekend.

The defender is suspended for the match after receiving two yellow cards during Saturday’s 3-1 defeat against Coventry City.

His absence will further complicate Le Bris’ defensive selection, especially with Mukiele’s availability still dependent on his recovery and concussion assessment.

However, Alderete will be eligible to feature against Dinamo Zagreb in the Europa League, should the manager decide to select him.

With Diarra facing a fresh injury concern, Mukiele recovering from concussion and Alderete suspended for the Chelsea encounter, Sunderland are approaching a crucial period with several selection problems.

Le Bris will now be hoping his remaining players can deliver improved performances as the Black Cats look to recover from their disappointing defeat and avoid allowing their difficult Premier League campaign to deteriorate further.
