“WHAT A TURNING TWIST” Aston Villa Player Ratings vs Fulham: Jackson Leads the Way but Suzuki’s Embarrassing Mistake Proves Costly

Aston Villa Player Ratings Against Fulham: Nicolas Jackson Impresses Despite Zion Suzuki’s Costly Own Goal in Frustrating Draw

Aston Villa welcomed Fulham to Villa Park on Saturday night as Unai Emery’s side looked to pick up another important victory in the Premier League and strengthen their position in the table.

The hosts started the contest positively and gradually established control, eventually breaking the deadlock in the 39th minute through Nicolas Jackson, whose well-taken finish gave Villa a deserved advantage heading into the interval.

However, the second half proved frustrating for the home supporters as goalkeeper Zion Suzuki unfortunately turned the ball into his own net in the 64th minute, allowing Fulham to restore parity and leaving Aston Villa with no choice but to settle for a disappointing 1-1 draw.

Despite Jackson’s impressive contribution and several encouraging individual performances, Villa were unable to find another breakthrough before the final whistle.

Here is how each Aston Villa player performed against Fulham.

Goalkeeper

Zion Suzuki – 7/10

Suzuki produced several impressive saves throughout the encounter and demonstrated good reactions when called upon, although his otherwise encouraging performance was overshadowed by an unfortunate own goal in the second half.

Defenders

Matty Cash – 6.5/10

Cash delivered a reasonably solid performance at right-back, making some important tackles while also attempting to contribute to Villa’s attacking movements whenever opportunities presented themselves.

Victor Lindelof – 6.5/10

Lindelof remained relatively composed at the heart of Villa’s defence and produced two important clearances, although he ultimately could not prevent the visitors from finding the back of the net.

Pau Torres – 6/10

Torres had some encouraging moments defensively and managed to deal with several Fulham attacking threats, but the Spanish defender was unable to help his team maintain their clean sheet.

Ian Maatsen – 6.5/10

Maatsen showed glimpses of his attacking quality while also contributing defensively, producing a decent performance on the left side of Villa’s backline.

Midfielders

Boubacar Kamara – 7/10

Kamara was influential throughout the contest, offering valuable protection to the defence while helping Villa maintain their presence and energy in midfield.

Leon Goretzka – 6.5/10

Goretzka worked hard in the middle of the park, regularly tracking back to support his teammates while also showing his willingness to test the opposition goalkeeper with attempts from distance.

John McGinn – 6/10

McGinn attempted to make things happen in the attacking third and created some promising opportunities for his teammates, although he struggled to produce the decisive contribution needed to change the game.

Attackers

Alysson – 6.5/10

Alysson showed some encouraging attacking qualities on the right flank and occasionally troubled Fulham’s defensive organisation, but he was unable to find the back of the net.

Johan Manzambi – 7/10

Manzambi caused problems for his marker with his movement and attacking intent, while also making a valuable contribution by providing the assist for Jackson’s opening goal.

Nicolas Jackson – 7.5/10

Jackson was arguably Aston Villa’s most dangerous attacking player, constantly putting Fulham’s defenders under pressure and rewarding his efforts with a crucial opening goal in the 39th minute.

Substitute Performances

Joao Gomes – 6/10

Gomes brought additional energy and intensity to Villa’s midfield after coming on, helping Emery’s side maintain their presence in the centre of the pitch.

Ibrahim Mbaye – 6/10

Mbaye showed some positive attacking intent and produced a decent forward run, although he struggled to make a significant difference during his time on the pitch.

Emiliano Buendia – 6.5/10

Buendia looked lively after entering the contest and created two promising opportunities in the final third, but his efforts were not enough to help Villa secure all three points.

Ross Barkley – 6/10

Barkley struggled to influence proceedings after coming on, with his overall contribution having relatively little impact on the outcome of the encounter.

Alejandro Garnacho – N/A

Garnacho did not spend enough time on the pitch to receive a fair individual rating.
